every one brings something to the table...

I've been meaning to update with this post and after coming across Emily's post this morning, it was the kick I needed to get it done.  For the last few months, I've been finding it difficult to find time to post.  I'm a firm believer in making time for the things that are important and so after a lot of procrastination and consideration, I've come upon the real reason why I've not been making the effort.  It's difficult to continuously update without wondering whether there is any signficance to your posts and stories.

I revisited a few early posts to remind myself of the reasons behind why I started blogging in the first place.  This process, like a lot of other bloggers, was to document early motherhood and my children's life as our piece of history. It was also a sort of forum in which to unload dreams, ideas and excess thought that swirls around my brain.

While doing some research for a paper, I came across a lovely quote by Anna Quindlen who presented this as part of a commencement speech in 1999:

“Every story has already been told. Once you've read Anna Karenina, Bleak House, The Sound and the Fury, To Kill a Mockingbird and A Wrinkle in Time, you understand that there is really no reason to ever write another novel. Except that each writer brings to the table, if she will let herself, something that no one else in the history of time has ever had."

There is no reason for anyone to read these udpates, it's ultimately for me to debrief in an almost 'therapeutic' way and possibilities in which connections can be made .  Every voice should have the opportunity to be heard no matter the simplicity, repetitious nature or audience.  Sharing thoughts is good for the soul even if it gets lost as it enters the aether.

What are you holding back because you think it has already been done?  Business opportunities?  Exciting dreams?  Blog posts...

the leibster...

Hello.

Not so recently I received the Leibster Award from Imogen Eve.

"The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. |
The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome."

This is a truly great way of supporting each other in the blog-o-sphere and I feel inspired to keep going. So thank you Imogen, you are too kind.  Please visit Imogen's lovely blog, I feel as though I'm whisked away to a serene and delightful place each time I read her posts and I hope you are too.

Here are some blogs that I enjoy reading and am passing on the 'dearest' award to.  Please nip over and say hi to:

Where does the time go?...

I love reading blogs...

It only started a few months ago and now I'm hooked.  It's inspirational, motivating and gets my creative juices bubbling. My only problem is, I get so swept up in the mummy/working role that I don't seem to have the time to utilize those juices.

The ideal week would include spending time with family, working, researching, cooking, friends and some kind of craftiness.  At present, I'm so exhausted from working that the days I have at home are spent playing with Nora, cleaning and sticking to some kind of routine.

I would really love to be able to create this:

Thank you icandy handmade

and make this:
Thank you Manger

Oh well, at least I have these two lovelies to keep me busy!

How do you make time to be creative? To do the things you love?
I'd love your thoughts.

Want, not need...

It's my birthday in a few days and usually I can never remember what I want.  Even then, I really don't need anything new but since I'm talking into the 'interwebs' I thought I'd show you a few things I've ooh'd and ahh'd over lately...

1.  I love this enamel bakeware set
2.  This would be a lovely addition to our coffee table
3.  Some tips please Karen Le Billon?
4.  I'm really in love with yellow at the moment, this would be rad
5.  I promise I would be in the kitchen more if I had these boards to work with
6.  Emu Ugg's:  Blue OR Brown....

and finally, I'd like to end the day with this:

This is called the The Saint Honoré. YUM!
Check out the lovely Manger's Blog for recipe.

Today's the day...

I've been meaning to start posting for a while but was a little nervous about getting it right so kept putting it off.  However, since reading this blogpost from Imogen Eve I've decided to bite the bullet and begin with a small non-scary post.

So...

On Friday night, this little munchkin and I were home alone while Joel had a well-earned evening out. I decided to have porridge for dinner mostly because of the ease but also because I know Nora loves it! We added some raspberries which made it healthy and super delicious.

What's your easy go-to meal?
